I do not know about the Steiner line, but I had many friends that worked on Disney and Carnival. With very mixed stories.

    Pros:
    – Money was good
    – seeing different islands.

    Con:
    – Had to stay below decks except when working with limited amusements, most of them drank quite a bit while on board.
    – Small, cramped, cabins with roommates.
    – Went to same places all the time – how many times do you want to go through the same tourist spots.
    – Being gone for 3-6 month period (away from Family, Friend, significant others). One missed her sister’s wedding.

However, despite this most of them stayed on for a few years and though they bitched about it, they kept going back. Young, single and wanting to get out a little — probably a good thing for a short while.
