what would i need to dooo ?

Im moving with family to australia in 2010 and im a beauty therapist in the uk with NVQ level 3 advanced beauty therapy (also have alot of additional training with international companies and also have over 5 years experience) will i need to retrain in an australian beauty college in order to work in a salon there?? or can i apply for jobs straight away ? many thanks

I think you’ll find that you’re better trained than most beauty therapists in Australia. I’d be amazed if you’ll need to do any additional training to find a job though employers may not be familiar with your qualifications and you may need to demonstrate your skills – there is no requirement for licensing or anything like that.

Studying or have a training in a beauty school may be an alternative but it’s worth to try to apply for a job first. Maybe there are some beauty salon that love UK beauty style so try first then if you can’t have a job for about a week or 2, that’s the time you consider to study in Australian beauty school.
