  1. Denise says:

Massage thereapists can get certified thru tech colleges in as little as 9 months up to 2 years.

They say they make a good living, but it’s all very dependant on where you work and what kind of business you work at. A high scale spa in the city would pay more than the massage techs here at the gym in a small town.

You also build a clientelle and work for tips. You can find lots of info by googling it. Theres a great school for it in Austin(?) texas.

  2. I went to a trade school called MCI and took up Massage Therapy…
Its not what I thought it would be.
Its a lot of fun…almost too much fun
But it doesnt make you a living…its something that you would do on the SIDE of your full time job. And you dont really want to work in a spa, you want to do them on your own because you can charge $50 an hour and do like 3 of those a day…maybe 3 times a week (before you start hurting yourself…and the wear adds up…if you get carple tunnel, your career is over)

You need to be sensitive (physically and emotionally), have a “good touch”, an open mind, self control (beautiful people lay naked across your table) and you must not descriminate against anything (age, sex, race, physical differences) Everything else the school will teach you in about 1.5-2 years
