Is hot stone massage safe for someone who has a metal plate in their hip ?

beautytherapists.net

This website is FOR SALE

My wife has a metal plate and some pins in her hip after a fall four years ago .
Because of this, Several of the Beauty therapist’s in our town insist that they are not able to give her a hot stone massage so she has to make do with the traditional full body massage instead.
Is there a genuine reason that she cant have this treatment or is it as i suspect, that may the therapist is just being careful and trying to avoid any sort of liability .

Generally speaking it is safe. You should ask her doctor though to be sure that there is nothing specific to her case that would make it unsafe. The main reasons form not giving hot stone massage are high blood pressure, MS and pregnancy. And she should fill out a medical form before massage, same as everyone else.

Lazy therapists is the most probable answer. I am a massage therapist of 5 years, I do Swedish, Deep Tissue and Hot Stone, all of those are fine for your wife and have no contraindictions.
