If I start beauty school, could I become a sort of apprentice at a spa?

I’m going to be attending the esthetics program in beauty school in January, and I want to set myself up for success. The more I know about the industry, the better I’ll feel. Do spa’s or salons take on apprentices or anything?

Thanks so much!

No they cannot. A salon was able to hire apprentices to assist but the laws, at least in NY, now prohibit that. Only a licensed operator may work in the salon.

Depends on the state. Some states have apprentice and some states don’t, But if you go to cosmetology School, You can’t do both…Apprentice is just Cosmetology School in a Salon, anyway. You won’t learn any more than what you will learn in Cosmetology School. If you want to know more about the industry, You go to classes for licensed hairstylists, and go to Hair shows.
